My Nairobi home

Now this is where I'll live for 5 months! The road off Sore Road where some houses are just finished and others being built. Sam Gathitu helping me to assemble the bed bought from the local jua kali and the mattress from Uchumi.
The office to be still only with a chair. Will ask a local carpenter to make a desk and also need to put up curtains and a carpet. The living room with the entrance door. Thinking of a big carpet, dining area and a sofa. The first supper on my gas cooker went quite well after I figured out how to get the hose on the pipes! Ate it on the balcony to the sounds of Nairobi.
The kitchen, with door to the balcony. The living room from the entrance. To the left is window to the kitchen, then door to shower and to the right you can see the office. The bedroom, with bed sheet as a curtain for now.
I do miss a laundry machine and tumble dryer... My great friend Samwel Lentoror is in Nairobi and paid me a visit. Tea and mango on the balcony. Back "home" in Nairobi yesterday, assembling my desktop computer in the small casing.
No tables for eating or computer. Lunch in my sparsely furnished flat. Finally got a carpet and a sofa table (no sofa yet though). Basele updating Facebook from the netbook. First ugali in this flat! Basele is trying t tag the ugali on Facebook for a friend.
Local food shopping. Ah, I've missed good ole' cold salad with dressing! Not the most common thing to eat here... I'll put on weight from all the carbohydrates! Martha and Salandi preparing githeri.
Facebooking. My great friend David Kariuki, who I got to know Kenya through, came for a visit to my home. Sam Maru and Ann came over for an ugali lunch.
Patricia, a former Kisima student from Kamboe, visiting. Finally have a sofa now! And two couches as well. Bought them from a local carpenter (fundi) just close to where I stay. Taking them upstairs to the 5th floor was a challenge and a half, I tell you! And now there's virtually no space for any potential, future dining area...
